Campus Closed Jan 17, 2024.
The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Emergency Management Team met this morning to discuss the safety of reopening campus tomorrow. Though the National Weather Service predicts mid-day temperatures to be well above freezing, we know that during the early morning and late evening hours, when many individuals are driving to and from campus, roads are likely to be dangerous and icy. With this in mind and understanding that many of our regional K-12 schools have already announced their own closures, we have made the decision to close the campus and cancel all classes for Wednesday, January 17, 2024. This cancellation includes both in-person and online courses.
This is not a remote pivot. Employees will be paid using Inclement Weather Leave, which will be added to Workday by the Department of Human Resources. Employees should NOT enter their own inclement weather leave. Campus buildings will be locked with the exception of the Boreham Library 24-hour lab, the Lion’s Den dining hall, and campus housing.
We fully expect to reopen Thursday, but to ensure all students have time to make their necessary Spring arrangements, all payment and registration deadlines set for this week have been moved back two business days. A full list of these deadline changes is included below.
Employees who have questions about their specific work should contact their direct supervisors.
University Police will remain on campus to assist with emergencies and will continually evaluate the condition of roads and sidewalks on campus. UPD can be contacted at their non-emergency line: 788-7140 or email@example.com
Plant Operations staff will be on call as needed to check buildings on campus for winter-weather-related issues or respond to facility repair needs, as well as ensure sidewalks are cleared for campus residents.
Housing and Dining:
Each housing facility will have a Resident Assistant (RA) on call throughout the closure to assist with resident needs.
The Lion’s Den Dining Hall will transition to Brunch (10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Dinner (4:30-6 p.m.) hours, and the Campus Center Food Court will close.
The Boreham Library will be closed. ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ will still have access to the 24-hour lab.
Additional Facility Closures:
Classes will not be held at the PEAK Innovation Center, the Center for Economic Development at the Bakery District, or the Little Lions Child Development Center.
